Flinders East
This paddock is part of the original Eastbrook Vegetable Farm just outside of the town of Mount Barker. The field gets its name from the large gumtrees which have grown on its western edge. This trees along with the slopes make it feel like you are in the Flinders Ranges. The upper northern portions of this field were formed from the excavation of the Southeastern Freeway which was built in the early 70’s. As a result, the soil is quite heavy and has some rock scattered throughout the upper sections. However, in other areas of the field the soil is light and easily prone to erosion due to a steep slope on the southern side.
