Big Horse West
This paddock is part of the original Eastbrook Vegetable Farm just outside of the town of Mount Barker. Big Horse west paddock was originally part of a horse stud before being converted for sprout production. The reference to big in the name relates to the size of the paddock, not to the size of the horses that used to graze on this land. It is very large and is in fact split into a 6.5 ha western and eastern paddock. Hence the name big horse west. The paddock has portions of heavy clay loam with medium clay loam. The paddock slopes north and south with a northern line of gums along the fence.
